Credit Crunch Advice comes to community
A room full of advice on money, heating, jobs and even the digital tv switchover was on offer at a Credit Crunch Day last week.
The event, which took place at Earlstown's Crownway Community Centre, brought together a wide range of agencies with the aim of giving out great advice - and practical help - which could improve people's lives and finances.
And there was even hot soup on offer to members of the public who visited the event.
Helena Homes' Nigel Yates said: "It was a great afternoon. We had plenty of people through the doors across the afternoon and the wide spread of agencies who came to give advice meant that most people could go away with something useful.
Organiser Jo Dawson said: "Visitor to the event gave me some really positive feedback. Nearly all of them said they'd come to any similar events and several told me they'd been given great advice on how to save money on gas and electricity bills.
"Bringing together this many agencies shows the strength of the partnerships across St Helens working to improve the situations of our residents."
Helena's Money Matters team were on hand to dispense tips and hints, as well as energy-saving bulbs. Also at the event were stands from St Helens Council giving heating advice, help with the Digital TV switchover, jobs advice, Citizen's Advice Bureau and even Care UK who had jobs they were looking to fill on the day.
Helena Homes are planning to run more Credit Crunch advice events in the next few months - dates and locations will be available on www.helenahomes.co.uk
